Enjoying our cloudy & rainy weekend with homebaked donuts♡

What are you baking this weekend?

We are having homebaked donuts at home on a cloudy & rainy day.

This time, I am trying a new baked donut recipe from my new recipe book I bought from Taipei.
Yes, it is delicious and we..., especially the girls loved them very much.
It had a cake-like and soft texture, unlike the ones I had previously tried.
Needless to say, these girls were very excited as they get to decorate their own donuts.
They were having lots of fun when decorating and eating the deco bits as they went along.
From an original baked donut to a "dressed-up" donut...
How about that???
And the ones Mummy did verses tne ones the girls' did...
Of course, mummy's ones looked better. But I must say for this time, the girls had did a pretty good job in their deco.:)

Here is the recipe as adapted from
慕斯甜甜圈&烤甜甜圈 by Sachi

Sesame Wheat Steamed Donuts 芝麻全麥蒸面包

These little steamed donut bread had caught my attention as they looked pretty adorable.
Using wholemeal flour & sesame seeds for part of the ingredients, these donut bread were actually quite healthy as well. But I do not have wholemeal flour at home, I replaced it with wheat flour instead. The wholemeal flour will give the donut bread a little brownish in color whereas mine is not due to the wheat flour.
This full recipe is about to yeild about 12-15, 5-cm donut size.
Coat the donut tray with canola oil and sprinkle some sesame seeds on it. Pipe the batter in about 3/4 full as the bread will rise.
Miss B, this is how I steamed my cakes... hehehehe. Using my wok and a metal rack:-p
All ready to be tested... I wasn't too sure if this steamed bread will be yummy by the look of them...
And they were yum yum indeed!! A soft texture. Nothing fanciful but just a small little donut, and it's healthy steamed bread makes it all. Plus the sesame seeds on the top and bottom of the bread, it was fantastic.
Recipe as adapted from 杯子蒸面包 by Akemi Komatsuzaki

Ingredients:
1 egg
40g sugar
60ml milk
100g wholemeal flour (I used wheat flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp canola oil + a little for greasing the pan
2 tbsp sesame seeds(can use black sesame seeds)

Method:
1. Grease the donut pan with oil and sprinkle half of the sesame seeds into the pan. Set aside.
2. Whisk the egg, sugar & milk untill well-combined.
3. Fold in the flour+baking powder, mix well.
4. Add in the oil and mix until well blended.
5. Transfer the batter into a piping bag and fill the pan about 3/4 full. Sprinkle the balance sesame seeds onto of the batter.
6. Steam over medium fire for about 12-15 mins.

Donuts are just so fun!!!! - Mini Sugar Donuts

Hehehe... We did had alot of fun with these baked little mini donuts... Or rather should I say, I was having so much fun with it...

My dear hubby had preferred sugar donuts than the ones coated with chocolates & sprinkles. On the other hand, the girls preferred those coated with chocolates.

Nic told me, "Mummy, I am going to bring some more mini donuts to school. My classmate had asked me for some more. They have to pay me.. 10c per donuts..." So I told Nic, it was okay, just bring for her classmates to eat. But Nic replied,"They have to pay for the food that they are eating right?"
Me, -_-"
Alright, probably that a sign that she might be a business woman in future... hahahah!!!!

This time, I will be trying out the recipe from Blessed Homemaker...
Doesn't these donuts gave a lovely shiny browned look??? I was like... hmmm, these donuts must be great too... Tossing the donuts halfway through the baking time to give them a lovely shine.
Oh goody!!! These donuts are ready!!! Texture was good, soft & fluffy. But these donuts wouldn't last too long as the taste texture will be different.
And of course, I had tried to coat them with sugar... Yes!!! It did stick to the donuts nicely... So there we go, 16 mini sugar donuts were gone within minutes..
Nat loves these mini sugar donuts too...:))

Donut Day - Assorted Mini Donuts (Strawberry Flavor)

Ain't these little mini donuts a cutie...???
Nah, I didn't buy these cute mini donuts... I made them...

We were all in for a big treat this time....

I had came across 2 baked recipes. One from Ellena, from Cuisine Paradise and one from Blessed Homemaker.

Today I will bake these donuts using Ellena's recipe.
I had KIV these baked donuts for almost a year. I had 1st came along the baked donuts from Blessed Homemaker. I had wished to bake some then but I did not invest in a donut pan as I had just started my baking last year. I wasn't so prepared to spend so much money at that time.:-p
So finally, I bought it last week... I had bought it from Bake King shop. It cost about S$8.00.
There... my 1st donut pan, a small little mini ones... As my oven is rather small, so this size pan fits it well. :-p
I had greased the pan and piped the batter into the pan.
(As it is a non-stick pan, thus it is unneccessary to grease it)
Ta-da!!!! A very nicely baked donuts using low fat strawberry yoghurt. While the donuts were half way through baking, my friend & I were so excited. We were so excited that the donuts had risen very nicely and we can't wait to taste them. With the sweet frangrance of the strawberry yoghurt, my friend had asked me to give him one immediately when the donuts were baked.
And......
He said the donuts were excellent!!!
Texture of the donuts were great! It was rather soft. The girls were all pretty excited too...
Decorating the donuts with whatever I had at home, it was actually great fun doing so...:))
Here, the mini donuts were all packed up nicely for the testers in my office the next day...
These mini donuts were best eaten on the same day, otherwise the texture will be different. Unlike the fried donuts with the bread texture, these minis had a little cake texture. Though testers & I had eaten these minis on the next day, we still think that the donuts were still alright, only 2 whom said that they were slightly hard.

MiMi, of course, having her fair share of her mini donuts... She had 5 donuts, and as she knew that whenever she eat something, she had to pose for mummy...
Check out her poses...hehehehe...

We LOVE Donuts

Daddy loves DONUTS!!! So everytime when I asked him what should I make, donuts is always one of his favourite choices...

My 1st donut attempt wasn't that fantastic, and my dought was very soft and un-manageable, and the donuts tasted more like fried "man tou".

Maybe I did not catch the frying skills or the heat temperature of the oil...

So I decided to try out another recipe from Daily Delicious.

My donut doughs, waiting to be fried...:-DFrying in progress. Donuts ready to be eaten....
Yummy, and Daddy had eaten 3 of them...:-P

Ingredients:(I made about 12 donuts, mould from Daiso)
150g Bread flour
30g Cake flour
15g Unsalted butter
1 Egg
70ml Milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp dried milk powder
¾ tsp Instant Yeast
¼ tsp Salt
Oil for frying
Sugar for coating the donuts

Methods:

1.Mix together egg, and milk, set aside.

2.Put both of kinds of the flour, the sugar, dried milk powder and yeast in a bowl, whisk to combine, add and salt whisk again. Pour the egg and milk mixture into the bowl.

Use large spoon to mix everything together, and knead briefly to bring all the ingredients together.
3.Take the dough out of the bowl and knead, you will see the dough will be elastic after about 2 minutes.
4.Add the butter and knead by using the heel of your hands to compress and push the dough away from you, then fold it back over itself. Give the dough a little turn and repeat. Put the weight of your body into the motion and get into a rhythm. Keep folding over and compressing the dough. Knead for 6-8 minutes or until the dough is soft, pliable, smooth and slightly shiny, almost satiny.
5.Put the dough into a light buttered bowl. Let the dough rise in a warm place until double in size (can be 1 hour or 1 hour and a half check often depend on the temperature).

6.Take the dough out of the bowl, deflate by touch it lightly.
7.Using a rolling pin, roll out dough to 1.5 cm thick on a floured surface. Cut out dough using a 6.5 cm doughnut cutter. Set on floured baking sheet, cover lightly with a tea towel, and let rise for 30 minutes.

8.Preheat the oil in a deep fryer to 170°C. Gently place the doughnuts into the oil. Cook until golden on both sides, then remove to drain on paper towels. Place the doughnut in the bowl of sugar, turn to coat the doughnut with the sugar, transfer to a cooling rack placed in baking pan.

D is for DONUTS

Thought of trying to make donuts for a few weeks... And this is how much donuts look like after the final stage... So ugly... I wonder how people made until so "donut" nicely... Unlike mine... hahahahahaha.....

After frying them...

(i think my oil could be too hot and i did not really "ja-ga" the donuts till they become really fried, and they taste more like "炸馒头"?)

After coating them with sugar.
"Mmmmm", not too bad after all... :-D

Indgredients:
200g of bread flour
20g sugar
½ tsp salt
1 tsp dry yeast
140 ml milk
20g butter

Coating: Some sugar

Methods:

1. Put all the dry ingredients like flour, sugar, salt and yeast in the mixing bowl. Mix until combined.

2. Turn on the mixer attached with dough hook. Turn on the mixer and slowly drizzle in the milk. Knead until dough comes together and add in the butter. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth (if the dough is too soft add a bit more flour)

3. Cover and let the dough rest until double in size. Roll out the dough to about ¼” thick and cut into desire shapes. Cover the cut donuts and let it rest again until double in size.

4. Heat up the oil for deep frying. Fry the donuts over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain oil on paper towel.

5. Let it cool down and coat it with sugar.
